Installation: How to install my bird?Updated 9 months ago

The hard part is picking the perfect location where the bird can be seen and is ideally silhouetted against the clear sky or a light single colour… take your time, find the perfect spot and be the artist.

The easy part is installing it. Simply grab a hammer and tap, tap, tap it into a tree or post. If the wood is particularly hard, drill a hole a little smaller than the spike, and then hammer it in firmly making sure there is no movement in the bird.

Different Ways to Install Metalbird:

1. General Installation:

   - Tap the end of the 'branch' with a hammer to insert the spike into the desired surface.

   - Suitable surfaces include trees, fence posts, wood walls, lamp posts, flower pots, garden structures, and building sides.

2. Indoor Installation:

   - Lay the bird flat on a wall.

   - Nail through the negative cutouts of the wings and near the branch to hold it in place.

   - Note: The birds will rust over time.

3. Hardwood Installation:

   - Materials: Metalbird, hammer, gloves, safety glasses, optional 5 mm twist drill.

   - Mark the desired spot.

   - Use the spike to create a pilot hole; if too hard, drill a 40 mm deep hole.

   - Hammer the spike into the hardwood and ensure it is secure.

   - Use ViseGrips to remove if needed.

4. Masonry Wall Installation:

   - Materials: Metalbird, drill with 6 mm masonry bit, 6 mm x 40 mm nylon wall anchor, masonry adhesive, hammer, gloves, safety glasses.

   - Mark the desired spot.

   - Drill a 40 mm deep hole.

   - Insert the nylon wall anchor and apply adhesive.

   - Hammer the spike into the wall anchor and hold until adhesive sets.

   - Allow adhesive to cure as per manufacturer’s instructions.

   - Use ViseGrips to remove if needed.

5. Alternative Surfaces:

   - Imagine the spike as a 6-inch nail.

   - Ensure 3-4 inches can be hammered in securely.

   - For hard wood, drill a smaller hole first before hammering.

   - Consult a builder if unsure about the surface stability.
