What is a Metalbird made from?Updated 5 hours ago
Each Metalbird is laser cut from premium 3mm Corten steel — the same alloy used in high-end outdoor sculpture and architecture.
Corten is a copper-chromium alloy steel that’s built to live outside. It doesn’t just survive the weather — it responds to it. When exposed to the elements, Corten quickly forms a natural patina (often mistaken for rust). This patina seals the surface, protects the steel underneath, and gives the bird its signature warm, earthy finish.
No two birds age the same. They shift tone with the seasons — from bright orange to burnt umber to deep charcoal over time.
This is not painted metal, and it's not coated junk. It’s the same weathering steel you’ll see on iconic buildings and public sculptures around the world. We chose it because it lasts for decades, looks better with age, and needs zero maintenance.
People are often surprised by the weight — it’s the kind of heavy that says ‘built to last'.
That’s what makes a Metalbird different. It’s not just decoration — it’s a little piece of living design.
