How do I install my Metalbird?
You’re not just installing — you’re making backyard art. And like any good artist, location matters. Find a perch where it can stand proud — silhouetted against the sky or a light wall. That’s where the real magic lives.

Classic Outdoor Install:

• Choose your spot: tree trunk, fence post, garden arch, deck rail, even a lamppost if you're feeling bold.

• Hold your bird in place and gently tap the spike with a hammer until snug.

• If the wood’s tougher than your grandad’s workbench, pre-drill a small hole just shy of the spike’s width.

Hardwood Install:

• Grab gloves, a hammer, safety glasses and a 5mm drill.

• Drill a 40mm deep pilot hole.

• Tap the bird in gently and securely.

Masonry/Brick Walls:

• Use a 6mm masonry bit, a 6mm x 40mm wall anchor, and masonry adhesive.

• Drill 40mm deep, glue the anchor, and drive the spike in.

• Let it set. Stand back. Admire your fine work.

Indoor Display:

• Use small nails through the wing cut-outs or around the branch.

• Corten steel still patinas indoors, especially in humid spots — but we reckon that just adds character.

Other Surfaces:

• If a 6-inch nail can hold firm, so can your Metalbird.

Will it damage the tree?
Only if your tree’s still in nappies. A mature, healthy tree can handle a small spike no problem — it’s like a piercing with purpose. Avoid saplings and damage-prone spots. Or play it safe with a fence post.
